Here is another review from us after almost 2 months without having any. Our review as always are spoiler free unlike our episodic review. The story is about a fugitive alchemist with mysterious abilities leads the Elric brothers to a distant valley of slums inhabited by the Milos, a proud people struggling against bureaucratic exploitation. Ed and Al quickly find themselves in the middle of a rising rebellion, as the exiled Milos lash out against their oppressors. At the heart of the conflict is Julia, a young alchemist befriended by Alphonse. She’ll stop at nothing to restore the Milos to their former glory – even if that means harnessing the awful power of the mythical Philosopher’s Stone.

There has been a lot of complaints about the art style, what people are expecting is that it will look like Brotherhood but it turned out to be different. The animation kind of reminded me of the first season of Fullmetal Alchemist but of course it was greatly improved. The battle scene animation was great and the character style is decent enough. What I like the most is the scenery of the movie which has a great amount of details. Nothing really was misplaced or lacking and I’m grateful to how the art turns out to be. Sure it can’t be compared to the art of 5 Centimeters Per Second or Welcome to the Space Show, but for me it’s good enough for a movie.

Love the characters in the movie, from the old man who is good at automail and the young soldier who swears to help his fellow villagers and that only the side characters. As for the main characters if you watch the Fullmetal Alchemist already, you will know how their personality is. Ed the one who never give up when it comes to fighting his enemy and Al who always back is brother up when he is in need of help. The best characters of the show would be Julia and his brother, Ashley Crichton, they are what this movie is about and the reason why Ed and Al come to Table City. What is lacking in this movie is the old Fullmetal Alchemist cast, Roy Mustang hardly do anything and he didn’t even throw a single fireball. As for Winry the reason she is in the show is probably for fan service and of course fixing Ed’s automail. The characters in are great and it is something that everyone should be looking forward to.

The music is fitting, nothing really catches my ear during my first watching of the movie, although I will note it never sounds out of place or unfitting at all. The song in the start of the film was really good, the fighting scenes had fitting music too and the Romi and Rie is as always amazing voice actors. Maaya who voiced Julia wasn’t bad either. FMA has done a good job with their music and voice, in general.

The beginning was a bit slow(because they wan’t to show a little background of the characters) but the pacing was good when they reach the city. The only thing that I feel was a bit rushed was at the middle part of the movie where the villagers try to claim what was rightly theirs to begin with. Al and Ed is still on a quest to find a way to get their original body back, it seems like the movie is before the event of  Brotherhood or probably in between them. The whole movie was like a filler but it was certainly a good one. Overall the actions is there, the story was good, and the ending was just perfect. Glorious as ever and I felt myself hold back some FMA tears (FMA ending has always been great).

If you’ve been following the “Fullmetal Alchemist” franchise in manga or on film and TV, then don’t hesitate to check out “Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos.” Not a fan? I think you can still watch it without watching the first season or Brotherhood. I’m still wondering when they will make a sequel after what happened in Brotherhood. I don’t want anymore of this filler, I want the continuation of the series, please. Back to the review, comparing the movie with the anime series, the movies still has a long way to go. Sure the movie was good but it can’t be compared with the anime series which is much better in terms of almost everything. The movie is a very intelligent, well-plotted story – and my hunch is that we have not seen the last of our heroes.
