Animethon 19 AMV Contest Winners

For those who’re wondering, the Animethon is an anime convention held in Edmonton, AB that lasts for three days. Plenty of anime showings, panels, AMVs, cosplay, and there’s even special guests (Johnny Young Bosch, anyone?), an artists’ alley (where a bunch of artists gather), and a vendor hall (for all your anime & video game related needs)! This post was supposed to published weeks ago, but due to University, me being rushed to the hospital, and all that stupid crap, I’m late. (I still need to catch up on SAO, too. Ugh.) Without further ado, here we go!

BEST ROMANCE / SENTIMENTAL: Hope For Tomorrow by Radical Yue

I. F**KING. LOVE THIS AMV. What can I say? I’m a romantic slice-of-life nut. I can’t help it. Even though I still haven’t watched Kanon, Air, or Hanasoku Iroha yet. Oops. Whatever. Slice-of-life rules. ^_^

BEST FUN / UPBEAT: She Loves That Rock And Roll by drewaconclusion

Okay, this is too good. Too fitting as well. Come on, admit it; you can picture Yui singing this song! This AMV is alot of fun to watch, and is one of the best examples that you don’t need flashy, special effects to make an awesome AMV. Then again, when isn’t Yui awesome?!

BEST ACTION: Synthetic Heroine by Ileia (CornDog VidVids)

Really cool AMV. But it also kinda creeped me out as well. Looks like it’s good thing I watched Ghost in a Shell after all, but it’s still not exactly my kind of thing.

BEST COMEDY: Ballad of the Nice Guy by MysteriousRyder

STILL haven’t watch this anime yet! Am I the only one missing out on this? Anyways, I was laughing my brains out watching this one! I feel ya pain, bro. And Twilight sucks.

BEST DRAMATIC: Save the World by milkmandan & manganate

Everything about this AMV is spectacular; the music, timing, animation, effects… all BUT the anime itself. When watching this, I thought to myself: “WHAT WENT WRONG?!” Guilty Crown had such potential, and this AMV reminded me of that potential. I still like it.

BEST TRAILER PARODY: Spiral Rangers by snapxynith

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! XD Still haven’t watch Gurren Lagann yet.

AMV COORDINATOR’S CHOICE: The Nightmagi Cometh by Matt Bottorff

I’ll admit, I agree with the coordinator; this does grow on you after a while! And Mami doesn’t lose her head in this one! Woot!

BEST “MADE IN ALBERTA”: I’m Super And I Know It by SOGESNAKE

… Nope. Don’t like this one either. No offence.

AUDIENCE FAVOURITE: PonyNote by Vivifx

AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This is way to funny! I laughed my ass off for this one! Because apparently, EVERYONE loves ponies! xD

KENTA’S BEST OF SHOW: Magic Eye by Shin

No competition here. As much as I love Hope For Tomorrow, this AMV easily won me over! I’m honestly surprised this didn’t even show up during the contest results, but I digress. Best AMV I’ve seen in a long time!
