Maybe things are starting to get interesting in Shinsekai Yori…or maybe not.  Yet again it was another slow episode.  I’m not sure if “slow” is necessarily bad it may be what makes this show great…eventually.  I really preferred last week’s episode because it developed an original sport, which contained plenty of unconditional action.  It felt fresh and kept my attention.  This week’s episode decided to focus more on some of the romantic elements of this show and didn’t get interesting until the end.

I’m not particularly excited for romance in this series.  The characters are currently 12 years old, it’s a little to young to be thinking about love.  Don’t get me wrong I do love a good romance drama or a romantic comedy but I’m not sure if I want child love in my speculative fiction anime staring a bunch of 12 years olds.  Maybe the series will prove me wrong and make something of this romance, we will just have to wait and see.

(I really like this creatures design)

Episode 3 consisted of more world developing and it is starting to get boring.  When will there be something that is going to blow my mind?  There is only so much developing I can take, if I wanted this much description I would go read a book.  Shinsekai Yori is really starting to feel like a dragged out light novel.  Normally a series at least shows some kind of conflict within the first three episodes but this series really hasn’t.  Yes at the end of episode 3 we come across that creature computer thing (I don’t know what I should call it) but it wasn’t enough to satisfy me.  Episode 4 better reveal some crazy shocking secret or I am going to be pissed.

I really want this series to be good.  I feel as if it has so much potential so I will give it a few more episodes but if I do not feel satisfied by the end of episode 5 I am going to be forced to drop this series.  Come on Shinsekai Yori, I know you can impress me so please do it.

Thanks for reading
