Nobuna no Yabou follows a modern-day high school boy named Yoshiharu Sagara who is transported to Japan’s Sengoku Jidai (Era of the Warring States) except the well-known warriors of the era are female. Oda Nobuna, a cute girl who happens to be a warlord, nicknames Yoshiharu “Monkey” and takes him under her wing. (Source, Anime News Network)

Alright, so I know very little about Japanese history and absolutely nothing about the Era of the Warring States.  I am guessing this time period is important in Japanese history and it would be strange to think of all these well-known warriors as female.  I’m going to put this in perspective for myself, an American.  This story is the equivalent of if I went back in time to Colonial Period of American History and George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and even old King George were all female…now this really has my attention.

So this series is a collaboration between both Studio Gokumi and Madhouse.  It is nice to see Madhouse doing something besides those awful Marvel anime and Hunter X Hunter.  I had never heard of Studio Gokumi before this and it looks like they are a fairly new studio. Oda Nobuna no Yabou is based on a light novel by Miyage Kasuga and the original character design was done by Miyama-Zero the same person who designed the characters for High School DxD.  This worries me a little bit; the nudity in that series was too much for me, and I hope this series won’t be the same.

One thing that kept catching my eye throughout the preview was the gravity defying armor on that one girl; I found it so funny and over the top for some reason.  I kept asking myself how can armor jiggle??? The series synopsis said “Oda Nobuna, a cute girl…” I couldn’t have said it better myself.  Her character design caught my eye when I was scrolling through the Summer Preview chart…she is really cute.  Overall it looks good, I will give it a watch and hope for the best.
