I want to start out with a question.  What is the proper spelling of this series…Anime News Netwrok and MyAnimeList have different spellings.  Hopefully mine is correct :)

Umm, so all the famous Samurai from the Sengoku era are girls.  I guess this is a lucky break for Yoshiharu Sagara.  He gets himself a female Samurai harem, things could be much worse.  Well, it is nice see Studio Madhouse on something other than Hunter X Hunter, I hope the whole bankruptcy crap is over and done with and we get to see more of them in the future.  Studio Gokumi is the other studio working on this one, they haven’t put much out so hopefully they will be good.  Okay, its time for a synopsis.

“Suddenly finding himself in the Sengoku era, regular high school student Yoshiharu Sagara is about to be killed in the battlefield. He is saved by none other than the man who later becomes the infamous Hideyoshi Toyotomi but at a cost to his life. With history completely changed because of Yoshiharu’s actions, he tries to make things right again but it seems that history is taking a different course than the one he learned in school. Nobunaga Oda is now a brilliant but young girl named Nobuna Oda. Yoshiharu starts working under her command, which nicknames him “Saru”, to bring back history to its correct course and find his way back home to the present world.” (Wikipedia)

I want to think of this series as an alternate history.  Some of it seems to be based off of past events in Japan but…all the characters are teenage girls…and there are a lot of gender swaps.  I guess it makes for a good story.  Cute Girls and Samurai are awesome, so both together sounds good to me.  I really hope this doesn’t turn into some generic harem series, there are a lot of event in the Sengoku Era and I hope they focus on them instead of stupid attempts at comedy/fan service, I don’t want this to turn into another Brave Ten.

So, all I know about the Sengoku Era is that it was called the Warring States Period and it took place in the 15th-17th centuries.  People from Japan learn about this time period in their history classes and know all these different Samurai.  I found myself very lost and confused when all these different characters were being introduced.  I really wish I had done a little research before watching this episode.  I imagine the Sengoku era is fascinating.  I will probably be too lazy to do research; maybe I will do a little Wikipedia research because that site is ALWAYS correct.

The landscapes were very pretty in the episode.  I wish I could have transported straight into the anime.  It was all green, and full of forested mountains.  I wonder if Japan is still that beautiful, I hope it isn’t all cities now.  The rest of the animation was pretty good, and the action sequences were very fluent.  It looks like this series will have great animation, always a plus.

Well I liked the first episode.  I can’t wait to watch more of this series; hopefully it will turn out good.

Thanks For Reading!!!
