Saturn’s now my favourite planet.

I know I said this before, but I really love school festivals. This week’s episode proved to be just as entertaining as the last, with some mystery foreshadowing, character-building, new characters & plenty of ship-teasing. And yes, there’s a reference to K-ON!!

Kaho’s really cute. But DAT EMO FRINGE.

Alot of the attention is focused on both Fukube and Ibara, as if to make up for their lost time during the whole movie project arc; Fukube gets on to advertising Hyouka, and boy did he advertise. I mean, it is kinda hard not to notice a guy dressed in a Saturn outfit. As a database in a quiz competition, he’s surprisingly a show-off but not over-competitive (as shown with Tani’s one-sided rivalry with him); he’s smart, but not math smart. It was established before that he’s a class-idiot, so it makes sense. Gotta appreciate these subtle continuity nods.

I really loved seeing Ibara stand her ground against her senpai over how manga can be perceived and enjoyed. It established how passionate she is about manga, and I’m interested to see what she considers a masterpiece. On the other hand, the senpai’s an idiot; masterpieces are born masterpieces – the quality of writing, how interesting the story and characters are – and are determined as so. Something that lasts years on end is considered “timeless”, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a “masterpiece”. Otherwise, something like Naruto would be considered one. No offence.

As for Oreki, he got everything he wished for – a quiet place to conserve energy. Until Chitanda slumps by with her many souvenirs from reluctantly enjoying the entire festival.

ALL THE GODDAMN SHIPPING.

…He was curious.

But seriously, the amount of shipping here is outrageous! What is KyoAni thinking? They might as well get married by the end of the season! Or next week.

ALL. OF. IT.

Of all the attempts to advertise the Hyouka anthology, Saturn Satoshi and his dancing fury had the greatest effect. Chitanda and her charisma didn’t get the job done, but the girl busily made herself the cutest damn thing ever. Ibara still searches for the manga that gave her those glittering eyes, thanks to a heated debate. And Oreki… yeah, maybe next time.

So who here thinks the new opening would make a fantastic episode itself?

Thanks for reading!
